Who is Hameln Entertainment in Amanda the Adventurer? Explained

Be careful of what your children watch

In Amanda the Adventurer your main question whilst playing may be “what on earth is happening?” and this is a valid question. As you dive deeper and deeper into the mysterious Tapes, you begin to wonder just how far the rabbit hole goes. Who is involved in this strange curse? And worse, just how many are involved in this conspiracy? Whilst you may have had similar initial suspicions to myself of the Amanda the Adventurer TV Show creator, Sam Colton, everything begins to change once you find those Colorful Secret Tapes. The most important thing you can increase your knowledge in for learning about the lore of this Indie Horror Game is the disturbing references that the game makes towards old fashioned stories that we all know of, but have never thought about its dark meaning. This is Vincent’s explanation of Hameln Entertainment.

The Story So Far in Amanda the Adventurer

There is a lot of unanswered questions we have for this Horror Game, even after experiencing the 5 Endings the game has to offer. We do not know for a fact what happened to Aunt Kate, Sam or Rebecca Colton, who Wooly specifically is and his role in the TV Show and the true motives of the entity. What we can however tell you is that the Television Company, Hameln, came to Sam Colton with a deal that would allow the Amanda the Adventurer TV Show to reach new heights. Whilst Sam had originally created a Show surrounding his daughter, Rebecca, this was a Live-Action TV Show and one that would change forever when transferred into an Animated form.

Sam Colton describes his admiration and inspiration for Rebecca being a direct source for the creation of Amanda. He tells us via the Coffee Break Secret Tape that Rebecca had gone through so much before the Show, hinting that her background before being adopted by Sam may have been a rough one. Rebecca appeared special from the start, as stated by Sam himself. Whilst this sounds like a loving father praising his daughter for her resilience and achievements on the surface, if you think more on the context of the story you begin to wonder if special meant something entirely different.

The Introduction of Hameln Entertainment

This brings us to Hameln and their involvement with the TV Show. We see directly through the Secret Tapes that Hameln brought Rebecca in on her own to sign some documents and perhaps a contract. Once done, they take her into a room that is guarded and locked. Inside the ‘Oh No Accidents’ Tape we see for a split second that a Chief Neurosurgical Officer was credited. Why would a TV Show need someone who specialises in Neurology? There is far more to this story than what meets the eye. In another Secret Tape, we listen to Rebecca reading out simplified versions of Demonic names, and afterwards claiming that she can hear a mysterious man in her headphones that command her to do something she does not want to do.

What little information we have on Hameln Entertainment points towards the Company using Rebecca as a vessel, to record her experience through Demonic possession, to experiment with her capabilities as a vessel through testing. We know that there is some kind of bond between the entity and Rebecca itself due to the fact that the creature has her hair, but with Amanda suggesting that her physical body is out there, we have to assume that her mind is still alive linked between the entity and the Show.

The Link to Pied Piper of Hamelin

There is a link that feels very obvious if you know of the Pied Piper story. The Company is doing very little to hide the fact that they are literally putting themselves out there as a child lurer. Robert Browning’s Pied Piper of Hamelin tells a tale of the Piper hired to rid the town of a rat infestation. With his entrancing music via the play of a flute, rats skurried along following the sweet melody. But the rats were only the beginning. Children were too lured by his song, but only as an nefarious act of revenge against Hamelin refusing to pay for his duties. So when the Pied Pier lured the children out of Hamelin, they too vanished forever, never to be seen again.

Amanda the Adventurer performs the same way as the tale of the Pied Piper, luring children away from their homes as seen in the Family Secret Tape where a victim of the Show was a child named Lauren. From the parent’s point of view, we see Lauren leave through the front door. But as we know with the Bad Endings of Amanda the Adventurer, any door can be made into a portal into the Animated world. Therefore, any children that have gone missing, be it Lauren or Jordan, are taken from the real world and placed within the Animated world, although their fate is unknown.

Hameln are hardly hiding their real identity – with their name being the German Town, their image being that of a mouse/rat and a slogan stating ‘follow us to fun!’ Their sinister intentions are clear and with some kind of otherworldly power placed in the Tapes itself that can entrap anyone inside, regardless of their age, the luring of children appears more of something to appease someone in particular, much like the deal with the Devil.

That was our explanation of Hameln Entertainment in Amanda the Adventurer. We hope this cleared up any questions you may have had about the antagonist of this Indie Horror Game.
