Where to Find Dead Rats in Demonologist

Rodent Exterminator by day, Black Magic Chef by night

Tasked with the random task of creating your own horrendous stew, players will need to find those Dead Rats in Demonologist in order to Exorcise the entity. At least in this case there will be no taste-testing, thank god for that. Instead, you will become the exterminator, searching through the darkness for those glowing Rat corpses. It is not a change that the vegetarians will be happy about but it is a task that must be done. Perhaps get your partner in crime in the Ghost Hunting world to partake in this one whilst you stand back, Crucifix in hand against any wicked acts from the otherside. This is our guide on where to find Dead Rats in Demonologist.

The Purpose of Rats in Demonologist

Rats are one of the many items recently added into Demonologist as of v0.3.0. These are just one of the new Optional Objectives added into the game to keep players on their toes and search for something different in the game as opposed to finding the Gun Parts, Time of Death or Fingers. Whilst these remain in the game however, the new Optional Objectives have been added alongside the previous tasks to unlock the Exorcism Objective. These are randomized and can appear in a set of 3 Objectives for players to complete alongside the default Objective. For example, ‘Locate the Time of Death with the Ecto Glass’ for Cyclone St. Now players will have to complete that task whilst also hitting other random tasks.

Where to Find Dead Rats – Location Guide

Dead Rats can appear in any of the Demonologist Maps. However, they will only spawn in after you have made your selection of the Entity Type via the Evidence List. Keep in mind that their appearance is also a randomized event where players could either be faced to complete the original Map Optional Objectives or face the new randomized Objectives to unlock the Exorcism. You will not know which Objective you will need to complete until this moment in the game, but luckily all of these new tasks need only for you to locate a set of items rather than using any Tools that you must bring in with you as part of your Loadout.

If this Objective appears, you first need to find the Boiler to place the Dead Rats into. This can typically be found inside the Entity Room, although it can make its appearance anywhere on the Map. The spawn of the Boiler has three set spawns across each Map. After you have located the Boiler, you now need to find the 3 Dead Rats. Just like the Boiler, these have a randomized spawn and there are a lot of places in which the Rats can appear. Regardless of the Map you are playing on, be sure to check the floors of the main and side rooms. You will find the Rats predominately on the ground or on the floor beside furniture. Occasionally the Rats can appear atop furniture but the more common spawn point is found lying on the ground.

I believe that there is a total of 10 spots that the Rats can spawn in across the Demonologist Maps. Examples of where you can find these Rats are on the floor of Bathrooms, beside Couches or Staircases and on Kitchen Counters. Just like looking for the Fingers or Gun Parts, players will find the Rats highlighted by a recurring white glow as their item indicator so be sure to keep an eye out for this.
