When is Deathloop Coming to Xbox Game Pass?

How soon can Xbox players expect to drop into The Loop?

Originally released on September 14, 2021, Bethesda and Arkane Studios’ multi-award-winning FPS title, Deathloop hit the ground running and offered an unparalleled gaming experience. Melding first-person shooting with roguelike gameplay, there was no way for this title to fail, especially with how well Arkane was able to make its rinse-and-repeat gameplay loop work.

Though, the only caveat here was that Deathloop was a timed-exclusive title for the PlayStation 5, blocking players on Xbox consoles from even getting a chance to play. Though it did come out for Windows PC at the same time as the PS5 version, not everyone was able to afford a strong gaming PC at the time, especially considering the PC part shortages, so most players were left out of the fun.

Funnily enough, this title was also released shortly after it was announced in 2021 that Xbox would be acquiring Bethesda Softworks, thus owning Deathloop even with that prior agreement between Bethesda and PlayStation made. So, Xbox actually published a PlayStation game which is kind of ironic.

The silver lining here is that because it was only a timed-exclusive, that means that Deathloop has a strong possibility of it coming to Xbox consoles soon, and since all other Bethesda titles have come to Xbox Game Pass, that means Deathloop would drop there too. But when exactly? Well, let’s explain when Deathloop is coming to Xbox Game Pass.

When is Deathloop Coming to Xbox Game Pass?

As of now, there has been no announcement by Xbox or Bethesda on when Deathloop is going to be coming to Xbox consoles though it’s almost certainly going to be dropping onto Xbox Game Pass the moment that it does in fact smash its way onto Xbox consoles. It also hasn’t been stated whether or not it would be an Xbox Series X|S-specific title or if it would also release for the Xbox One console as well.

The fact that there’s reason to believe that Deathloop is releasing for Xbox and coming to Xbox Game Pass in the near future is because of the details behind the timed-exclusivity deal that PlayStation had with Bethesda. Prior to them being purchased by Xbox, the agreement states that the game will remain exclusive for the PlayStation 5 console for exactly one full year following its original launch date. That means, that Xbox could technically see the game release exactly one year after, possibly sometime on September 14th of 2022.

This would be a major release for Xbox in 2022 as there still isn’t another game like it on the consoles and would give the game a second wave of players to sink endless hours into its iconic world. Xbox’s CEO, Phil Spencer is very outspoken about games making it to as many players’ hands as possible, so there’s no doubt that this is something that he has on the docket in the coming weeks.

That’s all we know so far about when Deathloop is coming to Xbox Game Pass, so be sure to check back with Gamer Journalist with more updates as they come.
