Dying Light 2 Stay Human is the sequel to 2015’s Dying Light from Techland, and it’s officially released as of February 4, 2022. Players are excited to explore the zombie-infested post-apocalyptic world with friends. However, upon launching, the game, it will become clear that there’s no option to play with friends right off the bat. So, here’s how to play co-op in Dying Light 2 along with an explanation of when the option unlocks.
How to Play Co-op in Dying Light 2
Dying Light 2 co-op begins after completing the tutorial, which will take around two hours of gameplay time. You can tell if you have unlocked co-op by going into the Online Menu and seeing if the Quick Join and Find Games buttons are clickable. Up until you complete the tutorial, the co-op functionality is disabled entirely.
Dying Light 2 supports cross-gen functionality. There is no crossplay in Dying Light 2 at launch, but Steam and Epic Games players can play with one another. Full crossplay functionality has been confirmed, but the exact date of implementation is still to be announced at the time of writing.
How to Join Friends in Dying Light 2
To join friends in Dying Light 2, go to the Online Menu and then click on the Friends button. Select the friend you would like to join, and click on the join game button. If you are the host of the game, you can modify your Game Type in the Online Options. Select the Friends Only option to make it so only friends can join your game. The other options are Single Player, Public, and Private. As the host, you can also visit the Friends tab and manually invite any of your friends to the game.
That’s everything you need to know about when co-op starts in Dying Light 2. We’re a little bit vague about when exactly this happens in the story to avoid any spoilers. However, you’ll know it by checking the Online Menu after each major objective.
