It would be an understatement to say that Sea of Thieves is a big game. It is a huge game, and more content is added with each new update. However, it sometimes may be unclear what it is exactly you should do next, especially for new players. If you have ever found yourself lost, then consider this a guide, a map, if you will, of how to tackle the megalodon that is the Sea of Thieves.

Long-term bucket list
This list is designed to keep you aware of the overarching, larger goals of Sea of Thieves, to get your crew to really work towards something. Working towards these goals does require you to perform a lot of the aforementioned short-term bucket list items.

- Promote to level 50 in every alliance
- Complete all of the Bilge Rats’ commendations
- Complete all of the Tall Tales and achieve their commendations

This is a very comprehensive list for players that need guidance for the seas. But this is not a 100% list of activities. Play the game long enough and become a Pirate Legend to find out what’s behind that guarded door…
Things you may not know
If you really want to get to grips with the Sea of Thieves, then keep an eye on the Bilge Rats. They will provide you with a new set of tasks to take on regarding the latest update, so you never miss out of any features.
Also, the game has an ongoing story that is being played out over many limited-time adventures that last a minimum of two weeks.
The Sea of Thieves has many immortalizations of pirates past, celebrating their achievements. These are real players that the developers thought to pay homage too. Sweet!
