What is ‘The Veil’ in Destiny 2 Lightfall? I wish I knew. We only learned about this mysterious artifact at the end of Season of the Seraph – so we haven’t had much time to do any lore-digging. Despite that, there are some certainties we know about it, and some things we can speculate.
That’s exactly what I’m doing right now. I’m going to go over everything we know about ‘The Veil’, and everything we can assume about it. Beyond that, it’s a matter of waiting until Lightfall.

Destiny 2 Lightfall – What is ‘The Veil’
As it stands, we know very little about what ‘The Veil’ is, and it’s going to stay that way until we get access to Neomuna ourselves. There have been references to an artifact similar to ‘The Veil’ in various leaks over the months, many of which have been debunked – and many of which have not. If you want to seek those spoilers out for yourself, be warned that you could ruin everything up to, and including The Final Shape for yourself.
If we ignore the leaks – here’s what we know about ‘The Veil’ in Destiny 2 Lightfall:
- It’s something of immense power related to the Traveller.
- It’s located on Neomuna.
- Rasputin knew of its existence in advance.
That’s all that we definitely know. Here’s what we can comfortably speculate:
- It’s likely a paracausal artifact of some sort.
- It’s possible that ‘The Veil’ and the Travellers ‘Pale Heart’ that the Witnessed made reference to could be one and the same. In that case, ‘The Veil’ is said to ‘hold the key’. What that key is for, we don’t know.
There has also been some speculation that ‘The Veil’ could be a new enemy race. That’s certainly a possibility based on old Destiny concept art. However, it’s unlikely Bungie would introduce a new race of enemies and not market that. Perhaps it’s a race to be introduced later on down the line.
Either way, that’s all we know about ‘The Veil’ for now. All that’s left is to wait for Lightfall to drop. After that, we can see what the fuss is about for ourselves.
