What is the Superlink in Midnight Suns

Let's be real, a new social network with superheroes doesn't sound like the worst idea.

Firaxis‘ latest foray into the world of tactical RPGs has quite the superhero twist to it. Previously working on series such as Civilization and XCOM, their latest game, Midnight Suns, has finally released. Taking place in the Marvel Universe and based on the story of the 1990s comic storyline Rise of the Midnight Suns from Marvel. This game aims to put you in control of the spandex wearing squad comprised of heroes known and unknown as they fight against the mother of demons, Lilith. Outside of the core gameplay, players will have the chance to roam around a hub area called Abbey. An ancient medieval looking castle quaintly situated in a space away from reality. Players can take control of their created Hunter in a third person perspective and explore the grounds. Along with exploring the hub area, each hero comes equipped with the Superlink. We are going to suit up and find out just what is the Superlink in Midnight Suns.

The Superlink, for all intents and purposes, is an in-game superhero social network. Heroes will message the Hunter privately or will message each other through the social media timeline in the Superlink. While it may seem like there isn’t much use for this feature unless you want to have a friendly chat with Ghost Rider, it can be pretty handy. Building friendships with heroes in the game is another core part of the hub world gameplay. By building friendships, certain superheroes will message the player through the Superlink app whenever you have spent enough time with them in order to increase their friendship level. It can also be used if you want to track specific hero side quests that you want to complete.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is a game that boasts over “65,000 lines of voiced dialogue” and “over two hours of cinematics,” as stated by lead engineer Will Miller during an interview with PC Gamer. This statement alone should tickle any Marvel fans Infinity Stones who enjoy listening to their favorite heroes banter. The added benefit of having Superlink also helps flesh out much of the games lore in the form of a superhero social network. As well as providing players with a momentary respite in between their mission to save the world.
