This feature is the bridge between the old and the new

Sea of Stars attempts to craft a love-letter to RPGs of old while calling upon new-age RPG features at the same time. Turn-based RPGs aren’t something that are at the forefront of games as they were in the early 2000s. However, this doesn’t mean that there aren’t passionate and talented developers creating new games out there. The name may not strike you as familiar, but if you’ve played games such as Honkai Star Rail, the Lock Combat System will feel all too familiar. It’s a system that allows you to control the flow of combat a bit more than you may be used to. Every enemy is going to have damage symbols above their head. By attacking them with the corresponding damage, you’ll be able to decrease the damage their next turn will be.

What’s more, if you deal damage for every symbol atop an enemies head, their move will be cancelled outright. There are a few key damage types you’ll need to know in order to do maximize your turns. You have: Sword, Blunt, Solar, Venom, Lunar, and Arcane. Each damage type has a symbol that makes it easier to tell which one you’ll need to use. Furthermore, when you cancel their move, you’ll gain a few combo points as well.
