What is HoloCure and How to Play

HoloCure is a Hololive fan game created by animator Kay Yu. Hololive fans out there may know Kay Yu as the principal animator behind Gawr Gura and Mori Calliope’s “Q” music video, so you know they’re a big VTuber fan themselves.

HoloCure is a simple action game heavily inspired by games like Vampire Survivors, but with a distinctly Hololive flavor. You play as one of the VTubers attempting to survive and fight off waves of their own fans and mascots, each with their own attack patterns and stats. Each VTuber has their own weapon and special ability, and by leveling up, you can add new weapons and passive buffs (all inspired by various Hololive memes and in-jokes) to your kit to dominate the battlefield. As you level up your weapons and abilities, you can Awaken them to enhance them further, as well as combine them into special “Collab” items with even wilder effects.

Every play session earns you coins, which you can take to the shop to add permanent buffs, as well as spin the gacha to unlock more characters. Don’t worry, it’s just a fan game, so there are no premium currencies to worry about there. Accomplishing certain milestones with particular characters will also unlock additional weapons and passives to be found while playing.
