During the Cell Saga of Dragon Ball Z, the eponymous biomechanical android spent his formative hours stalking through major cities and shoving his weird syringe tail into anyone unlucky enough to be standing nearby, draining them out of existence. Since society didn’t collapse entirely before Cell was defeated, though, it can be presumed that some lucky folks managed to evade Cell’s gaze. I bet it’d be interesting to find out what it’d be like to be in that horrible situation. On that note, what is Dragon Ball: The Breakers?
What is Dragon Ball: The Breakers?
Announced earlier this week, Dragon Ball: The Breakers is a brand new Dragon Ball game in the works over at Bandai Namco. The game pits seven ordinary Survivors against one superpowered Raider in a deadly game of hide and seek. Think Dead By Daylight, but on a bigger scale.
The Survivors are trapped in a pocket dimension with the Raider, and the only way out is to escape using Bulma’s Super Time Machine. Problem is there’s an entire city to search and a superhuman monster on your tail, so you’ll need to employ stealth, strategy, and the occasional diversion tactic to throw the Raider off your scent long enough to track down the Super Time Machine. The Survivors are ordinary humans, so they can’t fight by themselves, but they can pick up weapons for a quick diversion, as well as “Dragon Changes” that grant temporary Goku-like strength. You can also unlock special survivors with unique abilities, such as Oolong and his ability to transform into unassuming objects.
On the other side are the Raiders. Raiders can choose between Cell, Frieza, and Majin Buu, and have one goal: to completely obliterate the Survivors. Raiders start naturally stronger than the Survivors, and with the usual Dragon Ball abilities such as high speed flight. Additionally, however, they can accomplish special game goals that will level them up and increase their capabilities. Cell, for example, can absorb Survivors to reach higher forms, and if he can reach his Perfect form, he’ll become nigh-unstoppable.
Dragon Ball: The Breakers is slated to release some time next year. A precise price and platforms haven’t been divulged yet, though apparently there will be an open beta before release.
