Warhammer 40K: Darktide is a marvelous game of wanton destruction and mayhem, and the game allows the unbridled chaos through the abilities and feats and weapons of the operators. You can really go to town with your characters and pain the halls of the hive world red. One term that will keep popping up is ‘coherency’. You may be confused as to what that term actually means. Here is how coherency is in Warhammer 40K: Darktide.
What is coherency in Darktide?
Coherency is an interesting mechanic that few other multiplayer games implement. It is essentially a bonus that all players get from being close together. As long as you are close to one other player, you “have coherency” and will benefit from any coherency bonuses that you and the other player or players within your coherency have active.
In Warhammer 40K: Darktide, you will get rewarded for not straying off on your own and pursuing your goals, as maintaining coherency is vital. Each operative has an ‘aura’ which can be seen in their feats menu. Additionally, as long as you are in coherency, your toughness will regenerate.

You cannot know exactly what coherency bonuses you are benefitting from at any time, unless you can recall the aura bonuses of all the operators within coherency. It is not clear, but is most likely the case that if you are benefiting from two of the same auras simultaneously, they will stack upon one another.
Unlike other multiplayer games, it is almost vital to stick with your team mates, else your toughness won’t regenerate, and you won’t benefit from other bonuses. Also, you will be depriving your team of your aura bonus, which could really help out the mission. You’re all in it together.
