What Does Dexterity Do in Brawlhalla

Speed! Strength! Defense!...Dexterity?

Brawlhalla is a platform fighter in the vein of Super Smash Bros. while being free-to-play like Multiversus. One feature that sets it apart is the stats system. You get 22 points split between defense, dexterity, speed, and strength. These can be changed based on your stance, which may put a point into strength while taking it away from speed. This adds a layer of complexity and depth so you can help a character you like play the way you like.

But, while most of these stats are self-explanatory, dexterity isn’t immediately evident. Even if you do know what it does, it may be something you don’t care about. But don’t think you can just ignore it as it plays a key role in battle.

There are two types of recoveries for attacks: Fixed Recovery Time and Variable Recovery Time. Recovery Time is the time from your attack to when your character can move or attack again. For example, if you do a heavy attack, you may have a second of recovery time. That means, for one second, you cannot do anything until your character recovers.

Fixed Recovery Time does not change, regardless of your character’s stat. Variable Recovery Time can be altered depending on your character’s dexterity. The higher the dexterity stat, the quicker your character can recover. That means that if a move takes a second to recover at 5 dexterity, it may take half a second at 8 dexterity. Be sure to see if your move is FRT or VRT and plan accordingly.
