If you have spent time playing Dark and Darker, you have caught that there are two portals consisting of the colors blue and red. The Blue Portals are called Escape Portals, and you can use them to depart from dungeons. What we are really paying attention to is the Descending/Down Portals consisting of the Red variety.
The Red Portals function differently than the Blue Portals do, and if you are new to this game, you most likely are asking yourself what the Red portals do. This guide will answer the question: What do the Red Portals do?
Blue portals are your best chances for escape when being overwhelmed with monsters and enemies. The game is quite challenging, but has a lot of action. However, Red Portals only appear at certain times, and if you survive long enough during a dungeon run, you will gain access to the Red Portal.
What Do Red Portals Do in Dark and Darker?
The Red Portals can help you arrive at the Inferno level of a dungeon; this dungeon is the most challenging one in the game. Also, it is the shortest dungeon, with strong and potent enemies and much better loot. Remember to keep in mind that you can only enter Red Portals at a certain point in time and depart by using the Blue Portals.
In order to communicate with the Red Portals, press the “F” key, and you can interact with Red Portals similarly to the Blue Portals. Once you get to the Inferno Dungeon, you will be met with bosses and enemies. They consist of Demon Dog, Ghost King(boss), Lich(boss), Demon Centaur, and Demon Bat.
By entering the Red Portals, you will get better rewards and access to much harder rooms. High-Roller Dungeons are where you can often find Red Portals; to enter them, you must pay a 70 gold fee. Remember to keep in mind that entering the Red Portals makes the difficulty level more challenging.
The times that the Red Portal appear are 4:20, 3:20, and 2:35. Pay attention to these times to look for Red Portals because they appear randomly at certain spots. 9:15 is when the Inferno Dungeon timer begins. Although it’s not urgent to play into the Inferno levels, it can be worth it to get through that level.
