Rumors of a Warzone Next-Gen update have been running rampant recently. There was speculation that it would be coming with the Season 5 update. This speculation has since been dismissed by Activision as “Bogus.” This begs the question; are we getting a next-gen Warzone update at all?
Warzone’s Next-Gen Update is in Development
PS5 and Series X players rejoice. Developers at Raven, the mega minds behind the current iteration of Warzone, have confirmed that a next-gen update is in the works.
According to Charlie Intel, in an interview with the studio’s Creative Director Amos Hodge, Raven has a “dedicated technology team” working full-time to adapt Warzone for next-generation hardware.
Unfortunately, there is no timeline for the release of this update. It certainly isn’t coming with Season 5, at any rate.
Given that Warzone already supports both the PS5 and Series X/S, what a next-gen update could entail leaves room for speculation.
In particular, there have been whispers of the team looking at introducing a FOV slider to next-generation consoles.
This has yet to be confirmed, though. While having the increased customization option would be great, it would give next-gen players a clear and distinct advantage over those incapable of adjusting their own FOVs.
