Warface

Starting out our list is a free FPS title that’s reminiscent of the likes of Call of Duty. Of course, Warface has its own style and mechanics on display but this is definitely going to be a must-have if you’re looking for a competitive FPS title in that area.

Wolfenstein 2

One of the best FPS titles, Wolfenstein 2 brings some of the cleanest gameplay and a rich story along with it. This title is a classic amongst hardcore FPS fans because of the fact that it does everything so right. Who doesn’t want to dual-wield a whole arsenal of legendary weaponry?

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger

Gunslinger is a pretty unique FPS title. It’s a western setting for one but also has a lot of Michael Bay-esque bombastic moments and has an extremely unique way of storytelling where nothing is always as it seems. It’s a great arcadey type of shooter that’s perfect to pick up and play.

Doom (2016)

Doom has been a truly legendary title since its release. It hits perfection at reviving that retro FPS feel while kicking things into high gear with modern combat mechanics as well as a fantastic set of audio and visuals that make this feel like nothing you’ve ever played before.

Bioshock: The Collection

This collection of sci-fi titles does a lot right within each of the 3 games included in its package. The series has been a pioneer for FPS titles of its time by highlighting the fact that story and innovation in gameplay can and should happen for the genre to continue as it has. These stories still hold up to this day with gamers relishing in the twists and turns of each one.

Overwatch

A title that seems to have lost no steam since its inception, Overwatch is a great title not just for competitive players but for younger ones as well due to the fact that there’s no gore within the game. The fun cartoon art style also makes it a fun and inclusive game for all ages.

SUPERHOT

Another title that focuses less on gore and more on raw gameplay is SUPERHOT. This game allows you to feel like Neo from The Matrix as you duck and dive enemy attacks in order to make it through each level. This is more of an arcade kind of title that is great to digest in small bites whenever you’re bored.

Dying Light: Definitive Edition

One of the more expansive titles on this list, Dying Light offers a huge open world to explore and fight zombies in. The best part though is the parkour mechanics that make up the traversal in this game. That alone makes this game such a joy to play. It also includes all of the DLC too which adds even more for longevity.

The Outer Worlds

A great RPG FPS title for fans of games like Fallout or Skyrim, The Outer Worlds is just that but with a campy space backdrop. There are tons of wonderful characters, a great story, and fun gameplay. This is a great title to sink hours into.

Borderlands Legendary Edition

The Borderlands games found themselves at home instantly when they came to the Switch. They’re just great shooter titles and implore players to explore the world and its chaotic wonders. It’s a series with a great sense of humor that pushes the experience forward.

Serious Sam Collection

If you want to double-down on the retro FPS feel, look no further than the Serious Sam Collection. This set of games has hordes of enemies to shoot and an arsenal of weapons to shoot them with. This is a fun one to be sure.

Crysis Remastered Trilogy

Back in their day, these titles were gorgeous on strong hardware, these new remasters though make them look good no matter the hardware. These are fantastic sci-fi shooters if you want something a little different from the genre with exo-suits and super-powers that change things up.

Metro: Redux

A little bit survival, a little bit horror, and a lot of FPS, the Metro games are beloved by shooters fans because of just how nuanced they are. You really will not find another FPS series like this one. It has it all; strong combat, a heavy story, and a mysterious world filled with terror.

PAYDAY 2

This title is a great one to play especially if you have friends to play with. It’s kind of a bank robber simulator of sorts as you and your team plan bank heists and then execute them accordingly. Things never really turn out the way they’re supposed to but that’s part of what makes this hectic game so fun.

Bulletstorm

A hidden gem of its time, Bulletstorm was originally released during a time when the FPS market was saturated and it fell under the rubble of shovelware. Luckily, Bulletstorm somehow made it onto the Switch and it shines. It’s a great narratively driven shooter with a unique story to tell and interesting gameplay mechanics to boot.

That’s our list of the top 15 FPS games on the Nintendo Switch! There are a lot of great games out there but these just really shine as the cream of the crop. They don’t get much better than this!
