Depending on how you live your life in Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City, you may occasionally draw the ire of local law enforcement. It ain’t your fault some rando decided to run screaming into an active firefight, but these cops are strictly of the “shoot first, ask questions never” variety, so it’s probably better just to make yourself scarce. Here’s the best ways to lose the police in Cyberpunk 2077.

He Went That-a-Way

When you pull a no-no in Night City, such as pointing a gun at a civilian, directly attacking a civilian, stealing someone’s stuff, and other such crimes, the NCPD will immediately dispatch officers to introduce you to their steel friends, provided someone actually witnessed the crime in question. If it’s just you and a rando in an alley and you shoot them, the police won’t be alerted. The moment they are alerted, though, expect the police to come quick. Like, almost instantly.

When the cops come running, your first course of action should be to get as far away from the crime scene as you can manage. They will chase you, but if you get into your car, it is possible to lose your pursuers. If you can keep them off long enough, your wanted level will drop and they’ll eventually give up. This can take a good five to ten minutes, though, and is a potentially more difficult option if your car isn’t nearby or you’re in an especially cramped part of town.

Luckily, NCPD officers have a secret weakness: they can’t figure out how to open doors. When the cops are on you, you can immediately wipe your wanted level by ducking into any indoor storefront. As long as it has a door, they can’t get at you, and will swiftly lose interest. This might be a bug, so it could be patched later, but for the time being, it’s a great tool to speed things up. The same trick also works with elevators, provided you can get in one and close the doors before an officer follows you in. Just slap the button for any random floor, and they can’t touch you.
