This is a bit of an odd pick but Grand Theft Auto 5 is indeed a golf game. Technically. In either the campaign or in GTA Online, you can choose to play up to 9 holes of golf. This version of golf is more of a mini-game and is pretty basic but this makes sense considering the game is an action open-world sandbox.

Playing golf in GTA Online allows you to play with up to 3 other players making it a less lonely and boring experience compared to the campaign. The game has been released plenty of times so there’s a chance you have it. If you own the game, give the golf mini-game a try to quench your thirst for a virtual version of the sport.

Golf With Your Friends

Speaking of playing golf with your friends, why not try golf with your friends? This is a full-fledged golf video game that was built with multiplayer in mind. You can play with up to 12 players and golf at the same time. This creates a frantic and chaotic version of golf that only becomes more frantic and chaotic once the Mario Kart-esque powerups come into play. Players will golf with their friends across many themed courses that are exactly what you’d expect from a game like this such as a pirate-themed course or one decorated with dinosaur bones.

Players also have the option of designing their own custom courses to play on. If you love golf, multiplayer, and customization, then this is the game for you.

The Golf Club 2019

If you’re not a fan of the arcade-style games shown so far and are looking for something a bit more realistic, Golf Club 2019 is for you. The game lets you compete in the PGATOUR’s FedExCup, features real-world sponsors, and has simulation gameplay. A big highlight of the game is its multiplayer mode. you can climb the Online Society’s leaderboard as you compete against other players on in-game courses or ones made using the course designer. Golf Club 2019 is very similar to other simulation golf games you’ll find out there on the market but its advantage over the others is that it is a cheap Xbox golf game. You can currently grab it on Amazon for 20 dollars or less.

ACA NeoGeo Big Tournament Golf

ACA NeoGeo Big Tournament Golf is the oldest game on this list. Coming out in 1996, it does not compare to modern golf games in terms of content. There are only two modes, four courses, and six golfers to play as. Despite this, it still does its job and is a fine golf game to play. If you’re in the mood for a retro golf experience, try picking this one up for 7.99 digitally on your Xbox.

Party Golf

If you want a unique Xbox golf game experience, Party Golf is the game to play. It’s a procedurally generated golf game meaning that no two holes you play will be the same. Up to eight players can join in on the fun as well as there are over 100 game modes for you to choose from. The game is meant to be extremely customizable and fun. Like NeoGeo Big Tournament Golf, the game is a digital title that can be purchased for a low price.

Dangerous Golf

Dangerous Golf might be the most ridiculous game on this list. From former developers who worked on the Burnout series, the game is all about destruction rather than getting a hole-in-one. You’ll destroy kitchens, bathrooms, and other locations using just your golf ball. The goal is to get a high score by causing the most destruction possible.

You can even take the destruction online and play with up to eight other players in competitive multiplayer. If that’s not your cup of tea, you could try the couch coop mode and play together with one other person. Dangerous Golf is the perfect game for anyone that wants to play golf without actually playing golf if that makes sense.

PGA Tour 2K23

As the most recent Xbox golf game on this list, PGA Tour 2K23 offers an up-to-date golf experience featuring new licensed gear from brands like Adidas and Malbon as well as new control options. It still retains the usual career mode as you compete to win the FedExCup but this time you can choose between either a male or female player. You also have the option of designing courses that can be shared cross-platform with players on a different console or even on PC.

The game may be a more realistic take on golf but it also contains a Topgolf mode for players craving something more focused on fun and less on realism. If you’re a big fan of golf games, especially realistic ones, this is one game you may want to pick up.
