An extensive list from across the simulation genre.

Simulation games have come a long way since their inception. They serve as a great way for players to do something that they never dreamed of doing in their real life. This could be as normal as a train operator or even as bizarre as being a goat. Something that is increasingly seen across simulator titles these days though is the fact that they’re becoming experiences that you can have with others as well. Our list of top 10 simulator games to play with friends ensures that you’ll always have something truly enjoyable to play with others.

Similar to my statement above, this list has some more mundane choices while you’ll also find an occasional oddball that makes the impossible, possible. It’s a truly varied list that is sure to have at least one title for every group of friends to enjoy together.

Stardew Valley

The first of our list is a classic for fans of the life-sim sub-genre. Stardew Valley captures the feel of the retro titles it emulates but takes the gameplay further than any of them could ever dream of. Over the last few years, this title has seen multiplayer inclusion which makes living in this digital world all the warmer with real friends/family members taking part in the experience.

F1 22

A brand new title on the scene, F1 22 is off to a great start, incorporating even deeper simulation elements into its gameplay. Aside from that, multiplayer is warmly welcomed by this racing title. Not only can you race online but also via couch co-op as well. Who needs to go out when you can just play this together?

Sea of Thieves

If you’ve ever wanted to join a pirate crew and sail the seas with your friends, there’s no better experience to partake in than Sea of Thieves. Don’t let this game fool you, it’s a true simulation title complete with full ship management that has to be carefully calculated in order to make it from point A to B. Not only is sailing a ship a job in itself but there’s also a lot of naval combat that too has to be perfected to keep your ship from sinking.

Farming Simulator 19

Many Farming Simulator titles have come and gone but 19 seems to be the sweet spot for gamers. It manages to tightly capture the Farming Sim elements that players love with the added benefit of living the farm life with friends too.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

A title that most Switch owners already have in their library, New Horizons is a life-sim sensation that does a great job of contrasting its existence to a game like Stardew Valley. While that title makes its day cycle more of a job, New Horizons embraces whimsy and nuance in its world. Visiting friends’ islands is a great way not only to enjoy time with them but to also get ideas for changes you can make to your own island.

Microsoft Flight Simulator

Exploring the entire world has never been easier or cheaper to do than it is with Flight Simulator. You can literally fly wherever in the world you want in a large assortment of real-world and fictional aircraft. It’s something that’ll have any flight enthusiasts as well as world travelers salivating for this type of experience.

Snowrunner

Snowrunner as well as its predecessor, Mudrunner, take simulation to an unprecedented and often times aggravating place. Though this game can be punishing, it’s a realistic interpretation of how it is to move huge machinery through snowy tundra. It’s also a really rewarding game that makes you thankful that there are people that are willing to do this in real life so that you don’t have to.

Overcooked! All You Can Eat

Though a cartoon mess on its surface, Overcooked! All You Can Eat is a great representation of the chaos that happens in a restaurant’s kitchen. It’s just as much a sim title as it is a party game which brings a bit of brevity to its hecticness.

Arma: Reforger

Serving as a path forward for Arma 4, Reforger is a great experimental title that offers some extremely fun moments through its military simulation gameplay. Moving in formation through the woods with your platoon or rolling up in a convoy to an enemy base just never seems to get old, especially if you have friends along for the ride.

Phasmophobia

If you want to scare yourself and your friends, Phasmophobia is a great way to do that. It’s a ghost hunting game that implements a lot of real-world gear into its gameplay, making every ghostly encounter unique from the last. The various ghosts in this game are incredibly frightening and getting a good ghost hunting crew together to figure out what you’re tracking is the best time.

Those are the top 10 games you can play with friends. Everything on this list deserves a look-see as the developers behind them did a great job of giving players something really unique to play with their loved ones.
