The new streamer and content creator exclusive Rust servers bring the 2013 multiplayer survival game to new heights. As of today, Twitch viewership for the game peaked at 1.3 million, with the game reaching its all-time peak of 244,770 concurrent players (via SteamDB).
The streamer servers are the creation of online content creator group OfflineTV. The group was founded in 2017 by Twitch streamer William “Scarra” Li, and features other prominent streamers Pokimane, LilyPichu, Disguised Toast, Yvonnie, and Michael Reeves. The group launched these servers as a place for their friends and fellow content creators to make content.
Over time, dozens of new streamers and fellow content creators joined in on the fun. Top Twitch streamers like Shroud and xQc helped it gain popularity, but their PvP playstyles caused some frustration with some of the regulars. The original server was more casual oriented, focusing mostly on PvE and RP. To cater more toward the PvP players, OfflineTV created another server, called The Divide. The original server, The Badlands, remains active, so players can take their pick depending on how they like to play.
