There are many historic or iconic periods or settings in which games and the entertainment media have thrived. The Wild West is one of them. With the objective to mirror our day and night cycle, as well as give more realism to push immersion, The Wild West represents day and night in a very particular way. While a game being extremely realistic is something that some would want to incorporate, it is quite impractical to have a full real 24 hours day and night cycle. Sometimes being unrealistic makes the player have a more realistic experience, without cutting immersion. For that reason, an average day in The Wild West nowadays take 18 real life minutes to complete. That translates that during the day, every real life second equals to 1 in-game minute, and during the night, every real life second equals to 2 in-game minute.
The Day lasts from 6am to 6pm. Skeleton Horses & The Wendigo vanishes. The Night lasts from 6pm to 6am, with the Skeleton Horses can be called and a possibility for a Blood Moon to appear (although the chances for this happening have been substantially decreased). This reminds me of the Stalchildren appearing during the night on Ocarina of Time.
