Since the very beginning of the mainline Pokemon series, the Abra line, and Alakazam especially, have been the be-all, end-all of Psychic-type Pokemon (legendaries like Mewtwo notwithstanding). Alakazam’s sheer Psychic might ensures it has a place on any Pokemon team, which is why you definitely want one in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Here’s how to evolve Kadabra into Alakazam in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.
Obviously, before you can get an Alakazam, you need either an Abra or a Kadabra. Abras and Kadabras spawn in the wild in the Windswept Run and Sandgem Flats of the Obsidian Fieldlands and around Lake Acuity in the Alabaster Icelands. If you’re starting from an Abra, you’ll need to train it until it reaches level 16 to evolve it into a Kadabra, so if you’re an impatient type, you’ll want to just catch a Kadabra straight out.
How to Evolve Kadabra Into Alakazam in Pokemon Legends: Arceus
To evolve Kadabra into Alakazam in Pokemon Legends: Arceus
- Catch a Kadabra or catch an Abra and evolve it into a Kadabra
- Trade the Kadabra with a friend at the Item Exchange in Jubilife Village to evolve it into Alakazam
- Alternatively, use the Linking Cord on the Kadabra to evolve it into Alakazam.
Now that you’ve got your Kadabra, it’s time to evolve it. The good news is that Kadabra has no level requirement to evolve into Alakazam. The bad news is that you need to perform a trade to instigate evolution. You can perform a trade with another Pokemon Legends: Arceus player by visiting the item exchange shop in Jubilife Village. It’s the little stand with the yellow Togepi banner on your right after leaving the Galaxy HQ.
Talk to the lady at the stand and say you want to trade Pokemon, as well as whether you want to trade locally or over the internet. You’ll be given an eight-digit code, which you’ll need to send to your trade partner to open the channel, allowing you to trade freely. After performing the trade, Kadabra will be able to evolve into Alakazam.
Alternatively, if you don’t have anyone handy to trade with, you can instigate a trade evolution on your own through the use of the Linking Cord, a special item you can purchase from the Item Exchange for 1,000 Merit Points. As a reminder, Merit Points are earned by recovering Lost Satchels dropped by other players when they black out in the wild.
Once you’ve got the Linking Cord, simply use it from your inventory on the Kadabra, the same way you would use an evolutionary stone, and it’ll evolve into Alakazam. Congratulations, you’ve now got one of the best pure Psychic types in Pokemon Legends: Arceus!
