Learn how to get Evolution Stones in Pokemon Legends Arceus

In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, just like in the mainline games, the majority of Pokemon reach their evolved forms simply by crossing particular level thresholds. However, there are certain Pokemon that can evolve through the use of special evolutionary stones. These evolutions have no level requirement; the stones are all you need. Of course, you still have to actually find the stones first. Here’s how to get evolution stones in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

What are Evolution Stones in Pokemon Legends Arceus?

Evolutionary stones come in ten distinct flavors, each one allowing particular Pokemon to reach their fully evolved states (barring some additional qualifiers in a few cases). The ten types of evolutionary stone are:

  • Water Stone
  • Thunder Stone
  • Fire Stone
  • Leaf Stone
  • Moon Stone
  • Sun Stone
  • Dawn Stone
  • Dusk Stone
  • Shiny Stone
  • Ice Stone

When you have a stone, you can just use it from your inventory on a compatible Pokemon to evolve them right away, no particular level required. However, since there aren’t many Pokemon that use these stones, they’re a bit hard to come by unless you know where to look.

How to Get Evolution Stones in Pokemon Legends Arceus

Evolution stones can be obtained in Pokemon Legends: Arceus by

  1. Completing certain Requests
  2. Searching for them with Ursaluna
  3. Trading for them with Merit Points

While you can obtain a couple of evolution stones by completing certain requests for the residents of Jubilife Village, these are rather few and far between, and won’t get you all of the available stone types.

The most easily-accessed method of stone hunting requires you to have completed Mission 7 of the game’s main story and enlisted the aid of Ursaluna. Ursaluna can be ridden like Wyrdeer, but the big difference is that its powerful nose can detect cool stuff buried in the ground. When you’re riding Ursaluna, a yellow radar ping may appear in front of its face, indicating a nearby hidden item. If you move over to it, Ursaluna will dig it up, and if you’re lucky, it’ll be an evolution stone. It’s possible to find all ten kinds of evolution stones with this method, though how quickly you’ll do it is largely down to luck.

If you’d like a more consistent, albeit pricier method, all ten kinds of evolution stones can be purchased from the item exchange stand in Jubilife Village using Merit Points. Merit Points, as a reminder, are given to you when you find Lost Satchels that real players dropped in the wild after blacking out. However, evolution stones aren’t cheap; Fire, Water, Thunder, Leaf, Ice, Moon, and Sun Stones cost 1,000 Merit Points a pop, while Dawn, Dusk, and Shiny Stones cost 1,200 Merit Points. That’s a good ten Lost Satchels worth at the bare minimum for one stone, so maybe save that method for when you’re having a hard time finding a particular stone with Ursaluna.

Now that you know where to find evolution stones in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, you can evolve more Pokemon and fill out that Pokedex.
