Path of Exile (PoE) Vigilant Strike Build

Strike your way through with vigilance.

Even though Path of Exile is an online RPG reminding a lot of players of Diablo, it managed to create a large player base during its almost 10 years of existence and doesn’t lose popularity. The game features typical classes of warriors that you would find in most other RPG games but it is unique with its build system for each class. Builds are based on passive skills and skill gems that people insert in their weapons thus creating unique combinations that are almost without limit. In this article, we will present the Vigilant Strike build and tell you everything you need to know about it.

Vigilant Strike Build

Vigilant Strike is a melee attack skill that comes from a red gem and allows you to use it only when melee weapons are equipped. The Vigilant Strike is an attack that can’t be evaded and applies Fortify buff (20% damage reduction) when attacking.

The main catch with Vigilant Strike is that it is one of the game’s highest base damage attacks but has a cooldown. Yes, you read that right, when you use this attack you won’t be able to just left-click enemies whenever you want you will have a CD on your basic attacks. However, that CD can be bypassed by spending an endurance charge. Endurance charges are temporary buffs (you can see them as balls floating around your character) that reduce incoming damage. But, in this case, you can activate and then spend them to gain your powerful attack back quicker.

For an efficient Vigilant Strike Build, you will need a great endurance recharge system. The quicker you get endurance charges back the more attacks you will be able to dash out.

Vigilant Strike Support Gems

First of all, we will go through the support gems you need to add to your Vigilant Strike and buff it up:

  • Melee Splash – this gem allows for a small but decent splash that will help you clear out waves of enemies and not have to rely on other skills to do it.
  • Multistrike – Vigilant Strike will be able to proc twice per attack, giving you double the damage output with one CD.
  • Endurance Charge on Melee Stun – As the name says, this gem gives you an endurance charge each time you stun someone with your Vigilant Strike. This gem is optional, as you can increase stun chances through other items, gems (such as Stun support gem), and passive skills making it super effective.

Other Gems to Buff Vigilant Strike

Warlord’s Mark is one spell gem that you would want to have in Vigilant Strike build. It curses a target giving it numerous disadvantages but the most important thing is that when a cursed target dies you gain an endurance charge.

Another great endurance charge buff is the Enduring Cry spell which is a warcry that taunts nearby enemies, giving you regen and endurance charges. The more enemies there are around you the more endurance charges you get (the game says 22 charges per 100 nearby enemies).

To spice things up further, add a Vengeance gem to give yourself the ability of counterattacks and really wreak havoc on those enemies.

Passive Skill Tree

When going to your Passive skill tree, go for a general tanky build. This means upgrading your HP pool as well as regeneration and life leech buffs. There will be segments of the skill tree that buff endurance charges so make sure you don’t miss those. An increase in maximum endurance charges and endurance charge duration will all be useful in combat and is the basis for this build.
