A mix between a priest and a warrior, Paladins have served as a unique archetype in many video games. Not only can they tank, but they can also heal, making them an extremely valuable team member. Here are our favorite female paladins from our favorite video games!
Our Favorite Female Paladin Characters in Video Games
Artoria (Fate: Grand Order)
Artoria Pendragon is our favorite Paladin in the game Fate: Grand Order.
Fate: Grand Order is a free-to-play, turn-based mobile game. Chapter one is Observer At The Timeless Temples, chapter one-point-five is Epic Of remnant, and chapter two is Cosmos In The Lostbelt. It begins with the Chaldea Security Organization using magic and other sources to try and look ahead to figure out if and when and how the human race might go extinct. It continues all the way to the seven Lostbelts and the Chaldea survivors determining the fate of humanity.
Artoria is a woman in disguise, also known as King Arthur, and therefore is the King Of Knights Of The Holy Sword. Lawful-Good, protecting the weak and punishing the strong, she is the ruler who brings peace to England. She swears by complete honesty and selfless devotion, her knights kneeling to her justness and never-ending hope. And just like the literary King Author, her trusted weapon is the legendary sword Excalibur.
Cassandra (Dragon Age)
Cassandra Pentaghast is our favorite Paladin of the Dragon Age games.
Dragon Age Two is a high fantasy role-playing game. You arrive as a refuge and through a decade filled with difficult and chaotic political and social conflict, become a legendary champion. It is actually Cassandra who seeks out the “champion of Kirkwall”.
Cassandra is a Nevarrran of the royal Pentaghast family, a Seeker of Chantry, and the right-hand of the Divine. Devoutly religious and extremely driven, she focused on restoring the Chantry and becoming the sword of the Divine. Also affiliated with the Seeker Of Truth and the Inquisition, she seeks justice above all else. And in Dragon Age: Inquisition, she comes a romance option.
Cassie (Paladins)
Cassie is our favorite Paladin in the game Paladins.
Paladins is a free-to-play, online shooter game. It takes place in a sci-fi fantasy world, with a mix of medieval and futuristic weapons and armor. There is a war between two factions, the Magistrate – who seek to be the sole users of magic, and the Resistance – who thinks magic should be for everyone.
Cassie is a damage champion, also known as the Hunter’s Daughter. Originally bound to her homeland by a blood curse, it takes a mysterious oracle for her to find a way out. Only taking with her, her father’s bow and faithful hunting bird, she joins the Resistance in their fight again the Magistrate. And she not only has the ability to damage enemies from afar but keep them away from her team and even knock enemies into environmental hazards.
Lady Liadrin (World Of Warcraft)
Lady Liadrin is our favorite NPC in World Of Warcraft.
World Of Warcraft is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game that is a sequel to the Warcraft series of games. It went live in 2004, with multiple expansions over the years, including Legion in 2016 and Shadowlands in 2020. It is a high fantasy game world where a player can pick between two factions, Alliance or Horde, then pick a race (like Human or Orc) and class (like Mage or Warrior).
Originally Lady Liadrin was a high priestess (and one of the rare servents of light within the Blood Elf community). After falling away from the light for a time, she ended up creating a brand new order of Paladins, also known as Blood Knights, which lead to her re-igniting the Sunwell. Fighting against the undead Scourge, she also played a key role in the destruction of the Legion. And we have no doubt that she will be a very important character in the expansion, Shadowlands.
