Octopath Traveler 2 – How to Get to Eastern Continent

There are several ways to get to the Eastern Continent, so you can zip across the ocean to your heart's content

Octopath Traveler II, the hotly anticipated sequel to the smash-hit multi-viewpoint JRPG Octopath Traveler, has landed. The new game in the HD-2D franchise boasts eight new characters in an all-new setting, this time in an even bigger world spanning two continents and several islands between them. With this new expansive world, travel can look a little daunting, especially when one of the eight characters is on an island entirely by herself. Luckily, there are several ways to get to the Eastern Continent, so you can zip across the ocean to your heart’s content. With this guide, you won’t find yourself stranded any time soon.

The Easiest Way: Character Selection

Pick a character on the Eastern Continent. The beauty of having two continents this time is that the eight characters are split between the east and west continents. The Eastern Continent also has the more versatile character list. Osvald, Throné, and Temenos are on the Eastern side of the map. The easiest (and simplest) way to get to the Eastern Continent is to just be on the Eastern Continent from the start. A little rudimentary, yes, but the best way to go anywhere is simply to already be there.

You can also just pick Ochette. Beasting Bay Anchorage on Ochette’s home island of Toto’haha makes trips to New Delsta Harbor Anchorage. Ochette’s a little difficult of a character to get a handle on (Beastmaster is a job that’s best played when you know what you’re getting into), but once you get a handle on her unique mechanics, she’s a lot of fun.

The Normal Way: Catching The Ferry

Perhaps rather than pick someone on the Eastern Continent, you decided on someone from the West. Maybe you read our guide on best starting characters. Maybe you decided to go with the sweetest cinnamon roll in the cast, Agnea. Maybe the East just didn’t grab you the same way the West or Toto’haha did. If that’s the case, then progress through the first chapter of your chosen character’s story. Once you’re let loose into the open world, make your way to Crackridge Harbor Anchorage, east of Cropdale. This will take you to the New Delsta Harbor, which is northwest of New Delsta.

You can also use the ship at Canalbrine, which will also take you south to the Beasting Bay Anchorage in Toto’haha. From there, you can access the New Delsta ferry as well. This works wonders if you went with Casttia, as she starts out right in Canalbrine and right by the ferry.

This method isn’t free, though. It will cost you, and how much depends on the route. All prices are the same between the two locations, regardless of which direction:

  • Crackridge Harbor Anchorage/New Delsta Harbor: 2500 leaves
  • New Delsta Harbor/Beasting Bay: 1500 Leaves
  • Beasting Bay/Canalbrine: 1000 Leaves

The Advanced Way: Fast Travel

Once you unlock fast travel, you can just wing yourself across the coasts to your heart’s content. Hit the minus button to bring up the world map, and click on the appropriate town. You’ll instantly be transported wherever you need to go. You’ll miss out on experience and the possibility of an Octopuff Traveler (this game’s money and experience pinata) or two, but if you need to get to another continent, there’s no faster way to do it. This way also works if you pick someone on the Eastern Continent to start. Throné is a good one, as she starts right near one of the harbors.
