Gacha games rely on chance to acquire higher-rated items. The higher the rating is for an item the lower your chances are at getting them. This system that Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds has is divided into two pities known as soft and hard pity. A soft pity kicks in after a person fails to get a four-star item in 100 summons in the summon shop. Meanwhile, a hard pity kicks in after 200 summons without a rare four-star item.
