New Tools and Archaeology Coming to Minecraft 1.20 Update

Let's dig!

Awww yeah, it’s time for a new Minecraft update! As always, the newest version of Minecraft that will be released soon enough is packed full of new content. The sandbox computer game Minecraft was developed by Mojang Studios and was first made available to the public in 2011. It is currently among the most well-known and recognizable video games of all time, if not the most. In fact, it has sold more copies than any other video game in history. Even Tetris, which ruled the list for decades since its release many years ago must step aside for the Swedish-developed game. The objective of this blocky game is simple: Survive in a randomly generated world that has a wide range of dangers and monsters. Players will collect materials, develop structures, and craft items that can be used for a variety of things.

With plenty of things already announced to be releasing with Minecraft’s 1.20 update, and surely a lot more to go, here is our list of everything that has been confirmed so far.

A New Sand Block!

While this may not sound too interesting at first, the new sand block, known as ‘Suspicious Sand’ will hold random objects inside it. Now, although we aren’t too sure just which items it contains, it will at least hold Pottery Shards. Which reminds me, that’s our next topic!

Pottery Shards

Players can obtain this item by using the Brush tool (we’ll get to that too) on a Suspicious Sand block, allowing them to search it for items. With four Pottery Shards, you can craft a new Pot which has a symbol on it. Thus far, there are already a number of different symbols, but we aren’t yet sure how or if players can choose which symbols are chosen.

A New Brush Tool

This tool, known simply as the Brush, can be used on Suspicious Sand to search it for random items, including Pottery Shards. Although little is yet known about this item, we are hopeful that it will have more uses than just interacting with the new sand block. Perhaps players can use it on their pets to change their appearance or even increase their health points!

New Armor Designs

As we have written about before in this article, there are plenty of new armor designs coming to Minecraft. These will be in the form of Templates and Trims, and will give the Smithing Table a whole new purpose. We can’t wait to see all of the creative new designs that players come up with surrounding this colorful new addition to the game.
