Cement your spot as a starter and franchise cornerstone in a few quick steps

The story in NBA 2K23 MyCareer has changed quite a bit from years past. In previous 2K games, players would have to work their way up the high school and college ranks before getting a shot at the men’s league. However, the story immediately cements you as a sixth man on your selected team. Meaning that you’ll need to work hard to gain minutes and eventually become a starter for the franchise. In this guide, we will break down everything you need to know about how to become a starter in NBA 2K23 MyCareer.

NBA 2K23: How to Become a Starter in MyCareer

In NBA 2K23 MyCareer, the story revolves around you and Shep, but your primary goal is to prove everyone wrong and earn your place at the top of the NBA mountain. Obviously, playing well in games can help you earn minutes and level up, but there’s a lot more to it than that.

The MyCareer story begins with your getting drafted and then meeting your rival in the Summer League Championship game. After a few cutscenes, your MyPlayer will be introduced to the team of your choice. The coach will then proceed to talk to you about your role and position on the team, though, you will always start as the team’s sixth man, regardless of where you get drafted.

In order to become a starter in NBA 2K23 MyCareer, you will need to play in every game. As you play through every game, you will eventually become a starter regardless of how you perform. Minutes don’t matter either, however, performing better will gradually increase your minutes per game.

After seven games played, you can earn a spot in the starting lineup. If you’ve performed up to par, you will see a cutscene right before the game where the coach will name you a starter for that game. You will also be featured in the media and receive a letter from the front office to let you know that you have been promoted to the starting lineup.

Obviously, even once you’ve earned a starting spot on the roster, your minutes are not guaranteed. As you will need to continue to perform and get better in order to increase your minute totals each game.

It’s worth noting that you can also become a starter in MyCareer by simulating games. This means that you will earn your spot in the starting lineup regardless of whether or not you play in any games. That being said, you won’t earn any badges, VC or MyTeam points this way, so, your player won’t get any better. Nevertheless, it is the fastest way to become a starter in NBA 2K23 if time is your primary concern.

That’s everything you need to know about how to become a starter in NBA 2K23 MyCareer. If you’re interested in more NBA 2K23 content, be sure to check out our guides section here at Gamer Journalist.
