Monster Hunter Rise tops 5 million copies shipped worldwide

Capcom announces their latest installment in the Monster Hunter series for Nintendo Switch has topped 5 million units shipped worldwide. Monster Hunter Rise was released on March 26, exclusively for Nintendo Switch. Monster Hunter‘s first title made its debut back in 2004 and carved out a genre of its own, amassing a considerable following over the years.

According to CapcomMonster Hunter has shipped out a total of 66 million units as of the end of the year 2020. Tacking on the impressive Monster Hunter Rise sales numbers, we’re looking north of 70 million units shipped to date. The monster hunting games were initially popularized in Japan and have slowly gained traction in the western world over the years. A rise in worldwide popularity contributed significantly to the overall success of the franchise.

The year isn’t over for Capcom and Monster Hunter, as they plan to release Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin for PC and Switch later this year, on July 9, 2021. There will be new mechanisms that allow players to link between the new title and Monster Hunter Rise. For PC fans, don’t worry because Monster Hunter Rise is also coming to PC sometime in early 2022.

Capcom aims to keep the snowball rolling and increase brand awareness into the foreseeable future. The franchise’s first official movie, directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and starring Mila Jovovich as Artemis, sees a lot of success after its release on March 26 in Japan.

Monster Hunter Rise is currently available on Nintendo Switch as of March 26, 2021, and is coming to PC in early 2022.
