Top Pitchers in MLB The Show 22

Here are the top pitchers in MLB The Show 22:

  1. Jacob deGrom (New York Mets)
  2. Corbin Burnes (Milwaukee Brewers)
  3. Brandon Woodruff (Milwaukee Brewers)
  4. Shane Bieber (Cleveland Guardians)
  5. Trevor Bauer (Los Angeles Dodgers)

#1 – Jacob deGrom (99), New York Mets

This one shouldn’t come as a shock to anybody since deGrom is coming off a career year in 2021 as one of the most dominant players in baseball. He’s a former two-time Cy Young winner, a two-time NL strikeout leader, a four-time All-Star, and was the NL Rookie of the Year in 2014.

Last year alone, he set an MLB record for most strikeouts in the first four starts of a season with 50, pitched a complete game shutout with a career-high 15 strikeouts, only allowing two hits and no walks. Although this only accounts for a small handful of the records deGrom broke in 2021. Seeing him with the highest overall rating in MLB The Show 22 is no surprise.

#2 – Corbin Burnes (99), Milwaukee Brewers

Tied alongside deGrom is the Milwaukee Brewers’ stone-cold ace, Corbin Burnes. Burnes is coming off a ridiculous season in which he proved to be arguably the best pitcher, posting a 2.43 ERA, a 0.94 WHIP, and an astounding 30.4 percent K-BB rate in 2021.

These stats were impressive enough to earn him the coveted Cy Young Award and make him an MLB All-Star and an All-MLB First Team recipient. As such, he, too, has been rewarded with a whopping 99 OVR in MLB The Show 22.

#3 – Brandon Woodruff (96), Milwaukee Brewers

Next up is Burnes’ teammate with the Brewers, Brandon Woodruff. Despite being overshadowed by Corbin, Woodruff went on to throw 179 innings and post a 2.56 ERA, a 0.97 WHIP, and a 29.8 percent K-BB rate.

In short, very few pitchers have been as consistent as Woodruff over the last three seasons, which is why he has been rewarded with a 96 OVR in MLB The Show 22. That’s good enough for third in the game amongst active pitchers.

#4 – Shane Bieber (95), Cleveland Guardians

Shane Bieber is the lead man on the mound for the Cleveland Guardians and undoubtedly one of the top overall talents in baseball. Since debuting in 2018, Bieber has led the AL in wins, ERA, and strikeouts, all in the same year (2020).

All this while also taking home the AL Cy Young Award, becoming an All-MLB First Team recipient, and a Triple Crown winner. Unfortunately, Bieber was forced to miss a large chunk of 2021 due to injury, but he remains one of the best pitchers in the MLB. And that is why he was given the fourth-highest rating in MLB The Show 22.

#5 – Trevor Bauer (95), Los Angeles Dodgers

Last but certainly not least, we have the LA Dodgers’ superstar pitcher, Trevor Bauer. From winning the National Pitcher of the Year Award in college in 2011 to becoming the NL Cy Young Award winner and ERA leader in 2020, Trevor Bauer has been one of the most dominant pitchers in the sport for over a decade.

Despite moving around a bit throughout his MLB career and facing various legal situations off the pitch, he has found a home in Los Angeles and remains an all-time talent, as shown by his 95 OVR in MLB The Show 22.
