MLB The Show 22: Best Ways to Improve Your Player in Road to the Show

Not only does your performance on the field affect your player’s career progress, but the decisions you make within the clubhouse do as well. Luckily, we’ve laid out the top five most important ways to improve your player in Road to the Show, both on and off the field.

#5 – Be Professional

When you’re moving up the ranks in The Road to the Show, you will come across various moments where you can intertwine your own personality with your ballplayer. You can ask for a trade or even request to play a certain position with elegance or rigidity.

However, much like real-life professional athletes, being aggressive with your franchise is not the best way to handle the situation. The team could bench you due to your bad attitude, and if you were ever to get traded, that behavior could ruin your reputation and follow you throughout the league.

#4 – Make the Playoffs

This one might seem obvious, but you’d be surprised just how much a deep playoff run can benefit your ballplayer in MLB The Show 22. Outside of the satisfaction of winning individual and team awards throughout the postseason, extra games mean extra opportunities to improve your player. This involves selecting a team that is most likely to be playing well into October.

#3 – Change up your Swings

One of the biggest mistakes that a player can make is simply using a power swing on every pitch to hit the ball as far as humanly possible. Sometimes your team just needs to get a player on base, which is where switching your swing type to a contact swing would be better.

Not only will it give you a better chance of making a potential game-winning play, but it will also improve your ballplayer as well. Remember that you almost always get rewarded with extra attribute points every time you make an intelligent play in MLB The Show 22.

#2 – Invest in Durability

There are a number of statistics that can improve your ballplayer in Road to the Show, but durability is by far the most important. Even though most players will simply just turn off injuries, this doesn’t prevent your player from getting benched, and teams will often sideline a player on a hot streak if their durability isn’t up to par.

Being forced to observe from the sidelines is one of the worst things that can affect how you progress through MLB The Show 22. As the saying goes, the best ability is availability.

#1 – Buy Gear

The fifth and best way to improve a ballplayer’s ability in Road to the Show is purchasing equipment. However, this doesn’t just mean buying the most expensive piece of gear available, but rather making sure that you have solid gear for every slot.

Instead of blowing your money on one platinum piece of gear, spread the money around more and buy a few pieces of gold gear instead. You can then save up for Platinum items later on in your career.
