Shortstop is one of (if not the) most important positions in baseball. It’s also one of the more demanding positions on the field, often described as the quarterback of the defense. As the leader, and most physically dominant player on the field, they not only have to be vocal with their teammates, but they also need to be able to fly around the diamond and make plays. That’s part of the reason why choosing the right franchise to play for in MLB The Show 22 is such an important task.

Best Teams to Join as a Shortstop in MLB The Show 22 Road to the Show

These are the top three teams to join as a shortstop in Road to the Show:

  1. Philadelphia Phillies
  2. Washington Nationals
  3. Pittsburgh Pirates

Philadelphia Phillies

The best team to join in Road to the Show as a shortstop is the Philadelphia Phillies. Not only are they one of the best teams in the entire MLB, but they are also one position shy from competing for a World Series trophy, and that position just so happens to be the shortstop.

They’ve got heavy hitters on base and elite pitching on the mound. You might need to share at-bats with other players, but there’s a massive opportunity to become the starting shortstop for a Phillies team capable of competing with anyone in the major league. It’s also pretty easy to do, given that their current starter carries a lowly 71 overall rating.

Washington Nationals

The Washington Nationals is another very exciting team that any shortstop should look into for Road to the Show. Their roster is nowhere near as complete as the Phillies, but they do have more talent than other teams and could emerge as an underdog with you lining up to become the team’s starting SS. Playing for ‘The Nats’ also gives you the opportunity to play in a big market, and you only need to beat a 71 OVR to earn the starting role.

Pittsburgh Pirates

Let’s be honest, the Pittsburgh Pirates could use help in just about every single position. But being that shortstop plays such a pivotal role in determining a team’s long-term success, signing with the Pirates gives you a chance to start right away.

You might be able to turn one of the worst-ranked teams in the MLB into perennial contenders. Their starting shortstop, Oneill Cruz, also carries a 71 OVR, which is a pretty easy rating to beat, and the team plays in one of the most scenic stadiums in baseball; PNC Park.

There you have it, three teams to join as a shortstop in MLB The Show 22‘s Road to the Show.
