Moreover, data packs can be found in various places spread out across the internet, meaning that there’s no shortage of options available. However, how you go about installing data packs can differ depending on the world they’re being applied to.
Here’s how to install data packs for every scenario in Minecraft.
Installing Data Packs for Single Player World Before It’s Been Created
- Open the application and select “Play”.
- Start a new world and click on the “Data Packs” option.
- Drag the data pack file into the Minecraft window, and click “Done” to confirm that you want to use this data pack.
- Adjust the settings as you see fit and press “Create New World”.
Assuming the data pack you’ve found is accurate and compatible, then the world will have it enabled once it’s been created.
Installing Data Packs for Single Player World That’s Already Been Created
- Open the application and select the world the data pack is for.
- Click on “Edit” and then “Open World Folder”.
- Go to the “Data Packs” folder, and drag the data pack into it.
- Type “/reload” or click “F3+T” if players are in the world when they go to add the pack.
Installing Data Pack for a Multiplayer World
- Download the .zip data pack.
- Open the server folder and then the world folder that the data pack will be used for.
- Drag the downloaded data pack into the folder named “Data Packs”.
- Type the command “/reload” if the server was active during the data pack installation.
For any one of these options, you can type “/datapack list enabled” into the command section, assuming you’ve got cheats enabled. This will verify that the pack has been installed correctly. If it’s still not working, then you may need to consider resetting Minecraft.
