Should you play now or later?

2023’s first Nintendo Direct exploded the internet with a shadow drop remaster of one of the company’s most favored releases ever, Metroid Prime. The newly released Metroid Prime Remaster is a spectacle to behold, as the visuals and gameplay have truly been upped to make sure that they are up to snuff for today’s gaming standards. And goodness does this game look amazing.

One issue that players are facing though is an internal one. While the game is available right now digitally, the physical version doesn’t come out for a few weeks. So what’s a gamer to do? Well, we’re here to help you decide on whether the digital or physical copy of Metroid Prime Remastered is better!

When it comes to figuring out whether the digital or physical version of a game is better, it’s a tale as old as time at this point. In terms of Metroid Prime Remastered’s case, the decision is a bit easier though, as neither version offers any kind of bonus for buying. There aren’t any free digital skins, no stickers or patches for buying physical, and no rebate on Amazon for pre-ordering.

So it all really comes down to player preference. Though the big thing going for the digital version right now is that it’s playable as we speak. The same can’t be said for the physical version of Metroid Prime Remastered, as its official release isn’t happening for another two weeks, launching on February 22, 2023.

Though, there may be a little workaround for players that want to get that physical version and get it sooner. Upon my research, I discovered that Amazon has the game’s release date indicated as February 13, 2023. This is only a few days away and could get buyers the game much sooner. This could be a special deal that Amazon worked out with Nintendo, but who knows?

Even after all of that, if you’re still having hangups, then let’s break down the pros and cons of both!

Digital

Pros

  • Can take it anywhere without needing a chip.
  • You can play it immediately.

Cons

  • You don’t really own it.
  • If you don’t have internet, then secondary accounts won’t be able to play it.

Physical

Pros

  • You have a physical copy that is inherently yours
  • You can use it on any account whenever

Cons

  • You’ll have to carry it around in a case if you wish not to play it
  • You’ll have to wait for the physical release as well as the shipping time
  • You won’t get to join in on the hype happening currently
