Where Can You Expect Dark Miasma in Don’t Starve Together?

According to update information that was released, Dark Miasma will appear from Shadow Rifts. These rifts will be spawned either by server settings that you can edit or when you defeat the Ancient Fuelweaver.

Miasma will be shown as a dark fog and while you move through it your movement speed will be slowed and you will be losing 2hp every 2 seconds. It will also block out your vision with a dark overlay of thick black fog, so you definitely don’t want to be caught in it for too long. Luckily, there are ways for you to reduce the effects.

How to Reduce Dark Miasma’s Effects?

There are a couple of things that can ease your clash with the Dark Miasma. Fire is one of the easiest ways to temporarily disperse it, so you can construct either a Fire Pit or a Campfire to fight it. Carrying Torch around will do the same thing while surprisingly building a magic structure Night Light can also work against this dark nemesis.

If you want or need to run quickly through Dark Miasma you can do that with Brightside Helm or Desert Goggles. These will remove the movement speed penalty that you would usually have and help you with the fog overlay but won’t remove the HP drain that the Miasma applies. On the other hand, if you want to block the DoT damage, use Void Cowl. This item however doesn’t help with the movement speed debuff and the fog overlay.
