League of Legends MSI Rumble Stage Day 5 Schedule

Considering the events that transpired earlier on Day Four, Cloud9 now still needs a win in every single game but the possibility of their advancement is now 50% out of their control.  The first game of the day may very well be the finals of MSI with Damwon KIA facing Royal Never Give Up.  MAD Lions and PSG Talon are still fighting for a top four spot, but unless something miraculous occurs, both are guaranteed to reach the semifinals.

Locked-In and Eliminated

The prime story during the day would have to be both Royal Never Give Up and Damwon KIA being locked in for the semifinal bracket stage starting this Friday.  It is no surprise to any League of Legends fan that teams from the LPL and LCK are refined, fearsome, and skilled, and the teams’ excellence was demonstrated today when both secured their playoff berths.  RNG excel when they can secure an early game lead to start picking apart the enemy team through Xiaohu’s split pushing, but teams cannot discount Gala’s carry potential while contesting an objective with a teamfight.  DWK possess a star-studded roster from Canyon to Showmaker to Ghost and can play for early or late.  However, as we have seen in this tournament, just because DWK is at a deficit in gold does not mean they hemorrhage uncontrollably – they become even more dangerous.

Unfortunately for our Australian funteam, Pentanet GG has been eliminated from the tournament after today.  Their matches thus far have not been promising, with some games being an absolute blowout.  Jungler Pabu had a world of expectations on him going into MSI, and Chazz in the mid used his unique pocket picks to spice up champion select.  PGG can take solace in that the OCE’s method of gameplay is competitive enough to take a game off Cloud9.  But to reach the pinnacle, further innovation will be necessary.
