Here’s a breakdown and recap of champion and item buffs and nerfs:

Champions

Buffs:

  • Kindred
  • Kayn
  • Shen
  • Kog’maw
  • Lulu
  • Sett
  • Taric
  • Trundle

Nerfs:

  • Diana
  • Dr. Mundo
  • Garen
  • Gragas
  • Heimerdinger
  • Jinx
  • Morgana
  • Rumble
  • Vladimir

Both:

  • Xerath
  • Hecarim

Without going too in-depth, these changes nerf some of the most used champions in solo queue: Garen, Diana, Vladimir, and Dr. Mundo. None of these nerfs are super game-breaking, but players will feel the effects of abilities that scale worse or slightly longer cooldowns.

For the highest level of play, Hecarim is the true loser here. Although his Q – Rampage has a lot more upfront burst damage if paired with his E – Devastating Charge, he received sizable nerfs to his W and Q stacking damage as a whole.

Past the omnipresent horse, Shen receives a hefty buff to his ultimate, now shielding for an additional % of his HP. Because of this, fully expect Shen to be picked for a game or two as either top lane or support. And speaking of supports, the Lulu Kog’maw combination is being buffed greatly, so do not be surprised to see a ‘Protect the Kog’ or ‘Raise the Puppy’ comp that RNG’s Uzi era was famous for.

Items

Buffs:

  • Death’s Dance
  • Prowler’s Claw
  • Moonstone Renewer
  • Sunfire Aegis
  • Wit’s End

Nerfs:

  • Dead Man’s Plate

Most of these buffs are minor – Death Dance and Moonstone Renewer get more stats, Prowler’s Claw is easier to use and Sunfire is better at damaging non-champions. Dead Man’s Plate has a huge nerf of 100 HP, making the item barely gold efficient for tanks trying to supplement their movement speed with stats.

For MSI, it is not uncommon to see Dead Man’s Plate being built as a third or fourth item for tanks. With this nerf, tank players may veer towards Gargoyle’s Stoneplate more often unless the champion played relies heavily on movement speed, such as Rammus or Hecarim.
