League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational RNG vs PSG Talon Semifinal Result

Royal Never Give Up edges out PSG Talon in a thrilling 3 – 1 victory this afternoon in Reykjavik, Iceland.  Credit has to go to PSG Talon, whose rookie ADC Doggo pulled off some acrobatic stunts on Tristana while Maple used his creativity and mechanics to outplay teamfight after teamfight.  The Chinese representatives will have a day of rest before facing their opponents in the Grand Finals of MSI 2021 on Sunday.  And rest is most assuredly needed, especially since tomorrow is the day that members of RNG will have their blood drawn for their required COVID test before re-entering their homeland.

Game of the Series

If any fan wants the most exciting game to get their adrenaline pumping, it would have to be game four of this series.  Game four was the do or die moment for PSG Talon; they were down 1 – 2 with their backs against the wall.  PSG Talon fought tooth and nail against RNG to trade every objective, to prioritize gold early and objectives later, and to fight as many times as needed to avoid elimination.

The early game had skirmishes across the board in every lane, with both teams incredibly close in gold after the dust settles.  While RNG was taking dragon after dragon, PSG had to use the brunt of their effort to take platings and towers to equalize any gold lead.

Mid game was all about teamfighting and is where RNG shined.  Cryin on the Orianna landed multiple multi-man Shockwaves while Xiaohu on the Gnar was a constant threat to end the teamfight with a group stun.  However, Maple with his Sylas kept RNG honest with their engages as stealing a Nautilus or Gnar ultimate is not insignificant.

Toward the late game, the story was Doggo Doggo Doggo.  The PSG ADC secured many teamfights with his confident, bordering ballsy plays.  However, the rookie also misstepped a few times that cost PSG dearly while RNG pounced on these opportunities hungrily.  Although RNG will be advancing, they have shown the world that the team has weaknesses across the board and can absolutely be dissected.
