It could be a connection issue that has to do with your wifi. Try using LAN cables and connect that way. Make sure to restart your router if you’re still experiencing lag from an unsteady internet connection.

You can also try resetting your network device and updating your drivers to fix compatibility problems. Another solution players have found to work is by removing background applications that could conflict with how the game is performing. If you have lag try relieving some of the stress by getting rid of the background noise.
