Is Cyberpunk 2077 Getting DLC?

I finished my run of Cyberpunk 2077 about a week ago. It was a decently fun time, even if that fun had to be dragged out kicking and screaming occasionally, but I’m content to call it a complete experience (bug fixes notwithstanding). If you’ve finished a go-through yourself and are still hungry for more, then you’re probably already wondering, “is Cyberpunk 2077 getting DLC?”

I hope there’s another smart gun like Skippy…

Not too long after Cyberpunk 2077 released, CD Projekt Red did confirm that there is DLC planned for the game. Of course, in between all the fracas about refunds and bug fixes, their attention is understandably a bit divided at the moment, which is why, at time of writing, details about DLC are still a tad scarce.

What we do know is that Cyberpunk 2077’s DLC model will take a few pages from The Witcher 3, incorporating a mix of smaller, free DLC nuggets and larger, more self-contained DLC packs. If you go back and check out the launch trailer for the game and pause it during the part with the yellow screen and the “pre-order” message, you can actually see a secret message from CD Projekt Red offering some ideas of what to expect in DLC releases.

“We’ve mentioned before that expansions will be coming, and while we’re not ready to talk specifics just yet, we will say that we’ve learned a lot from our work on both Hearts of Stone & Blood and Wine. Our planned expansions will take you even deeper into the world of Cyberpunk 2077, offering substantial, story-driven content that’ll give you tough choices to make through impactful narratives that you won’t soon forget,” the hidden message said.

“But before we get there, we’ll first be kicking off our free DLC program in early 2021. Just like with The Witcher 3, expect an assortment of free DLC packs to begin hitting Night City, dropping a bunch of cool stuff that’ll inject even more life into the world of the dark future.”

So basically, we’ll probably get a few neat guns or cosmetic things in the very near future, and then later down the line, we can expect some more expansive story DLC packs. As to when exactly, well, you all waited as long as you did for the main game, so waiting for DLC should feel familiar.
