How to Use the Research Desk in PlateUp

The Research Desk is an installation you can purchase for your restaurants in PlateUp. Rather than being used for preparing food or making your customers happy, the point of the Research Desk is to upgrade your other installations and appliances to make them more efficient. This, in turn, can create more favorable work situations, especially when you’re inundated with customers.

The Research Desk can be used to upgrade just about anything you can stick in your restaurant, including:

  • Oven
  • Bin
  • Plates
  • Dining Table
  • Counter
  • Prep Counter
  • Floor Buffer
  • Conveyor
  • Mixer
  • Hob
  • Mop
  • Sink

You can even use the Research Desk to upgrade the Research Desk itself, making it faster and easier to use.

Before you can actually use a Research Desk, you’ll need a Blueprint Cabinet. You’ll get a Blueprint Cabinet automatically at the start of the game, so make sure it’s placed down in your restaurant. Afterward, you need to place the Research Desk right next to the Blueprint Cabinet to use it. They need to be connected or the Research Desk won’t work. Finally, any installation you want to upgrade needs to have its corresponding blueprint stashed inside the Blueprint Cabinet.

Once your Research Desk is properly set up, just pick the blueprint you want to upgrade, wait a few seconds, and presto: the blueprint for the upgraded version will appear in the Blueprint Cabinet. You can buy the upgraded version between rounds, as well as sell off the lesser version for some quick pocket money. Just a heads up, you can only upgrade a particular installation once per day, even if there’s another upgrade tier available. They can’t let you jump right to the top rung immediately, after all.

The Research Desk is a vital component in creating bigger and better restaurant operations in PlateUp, so make obtaining it as soon as you can a priority. For science!
