How to Use Tarp and Set up Tent in Sons of the Forest

I love camping. I love going out into the wilderness and sleeping underneath the stars. There’s something so peaceful about hearing animals scatter in the forest or rain hitting against your tent. I’m sure this is how you feel when you’re the character in Sons of the Forest. Eventually, you’ll get sick of just sleeping in a tent and you’d want to create a log cabin. Until then, you should learn how to make a tent and use tarp if you’re going to want to survive the night. If you’re like me you could just go on Amazon and buy a tent. This isn’t about me, though it’s about you playing Sons of the Forest. Here’s how you can use tarp and set up a tent in Sons of the Forest.

Setting up tent and tarp in Sons of the Forest

You’re going to want to have shelter in this game. It’s all about survival. One of the ways you can survive is by getting a goods night sleep. You do that by owning a tent and setting up tarp so you have a place to stay for the night. What you’re going to need is a shelter tent and these can easily be crafted by obtaining tarp and some sticks. Finding sticks is just like finding them in real life. Look for trees and sticks on the Earth floor. As for tarp, you’re going to want to do some exploration by going through suitcases or looting underground.

After you have these two items it’s time to build a tent! Just open up your inventory and equip the tarp. Make sure you find somewhere flat or it won’t work. Place the tarp down by left-clicking your mouse. Now you need to place your stick on the tarp to create a tent. The game is super realistic in terms of making your tent evenly distributed. You need to add two sticks in order to make one side of the tent not lopsided. Once you have built your tent you have a new base where you can save and sleep.

Building Cabins in Sons of the Forest

As you progress through the game you’ll learn how to make grander homes to sleep in. You will eventually be able to build a log cabin. In order to learn how to make better homes for yourself you need to open up your book to learn what each home needs. Just open your book and scroll until you have reached shelters. The different shelters you can build in Sons of the Forest are hunting shelter, small log cabin and tree shelter. Each one requires different resources and eventually you’ll be able to build furniture to go with your base.
