How to Use Photo Mode in Need for Speed Unbound

Take a picture, it'll last longer.

These days, you won’t find all too many AAA games that don’t include some kind of photo mode feature. This lets players take some seriously great screenshots of the gorgeous games they’re playing, allowing them to soak it all up. But where they really can shine is in racing titles. And if you picked up Need for Speed Unbound, you’ll be happy to find out that this title also features a photo mode. So, let’s talk about how to use photo mode in Need for Speed Unbound!

Unbound’s photo mode is called Snapshot, and can be accessed at any time you’re in your car by heading to the in-game pause menu and selecting Snapshot. From there, you’re given all the tools you’ll need in order to take a sweet pic of you and your ride.

Effects

In Effects, there are 4 different sliders that players can use to change the way the actual Snapshot looks. First, there are the Camera Effects which include Focal Distance and Depth of View. Focal Distance controls the clarity of the entire image, whereas Depth of Field controls the clarity of everything around your car.

If you hit your shoulder buttons, you’ll then be taken to the Tints section of Effects. Here, you’ll have Saturation and Contrast. Saturation is how seeped in color your image is, and Contrast is what helps darken or brighten an image to separate things better.

Controls

Players have quite a set of controls to use in order to create the perfect shot to go along with those Effects you’ll be using. I’d say that the angle of the shot is far more important than the Effects you’re going to lay over it. Buttons/keys are going to vary depending on your gaming platform, but here are the various actions you can perform if on Xbox/PlayStation.

  • B/Circle – Back
  • R3 (press) – Hide UI
  • X/Square – Show Effects
  • Y/Triangle – Controls
  • LT/L2 – Move Down
  • RT/R2 – Move Up
  • D-Pad Up – Zoom In
  • D-Pad Down – Zoom Out

To take a Snapshot, you’ll actually need to utilize your controller or keyboard’s dedicated screenshot/share button or key to take it natively.

X/Square – Reset

Y/Triangle – Driving Effects on/off

L – Rotate the Car
