In One Piece, Observation Haki is a special skill commonly used by powerful pirates and marines in the back half of the Grand Line. It’s kind of like telepathy, giving one the ability to hear a living creature’s “inner voice” and sense their position and intentions. In One Piece Odyssey, it’s also a very handy exploration ability! Here’s how to use Observation Haki in One Piece Odyssey.
How to Use Observation Haki in One Piece Odyssey
In One Piece Odyssey, Observation Haki (or “Color of Observation Haki,” to use the full name) is a special field ability that Luffy can use to scan his surroundings for danger and valuables. Technically, Zoro, Sanji, and Usopp are supposed to be able to use it too, but for the purposes of this game, only Luffy can use Observation Haki.

You have access to this ability from the beginning of the game, though after Lim takes away everyone’s abilities, you’ll lose access to it for a little while. It won’t be gone long, though, as you’ll get it back alongside your other basic abilities after finding the first Cube Fragment in the Lake Shore Cave.
Using Observation Haki
While you’re out in the field and controlling Luffy, press the F key/Y button to send activate Observation Haki. The screen’s colors will invert for a moment and a radar pulse will go out. If there’s anything of interest nearby, it’ll be highlighted on your screen. While the pulse seems to go very far, its range is actually pretty short, so be afraid to periodically send out a Haki pulse as you’re wandering around so you don’t miss anything.
Observation Haki is used to highlight two particular things: hidden items and EXP Enemies. Hidden items are… well, hidden items. Using Haki may reveal item-gathering spots on the ground or walls, as well as breakable objects and walls. EXP Enemies, on the other hand, are special enemy field symbols with an “EXP” symbol over their heads. If you start a fight with these enemies and defeat them, you’ll receive some bonus EXP in addition to the flat EXP you’d normally get. Fighting EXP Enemies is a great way to get a little extra EXP while you’re exploring, so make sure to take them out whenever you see one.
Make liberal use of your Observation Haki as you explore Waford and Memoria in order to find the most stuff possible. Hey, if you had a built-in radar, you’d use it all the time too.
