Between exploring the eerie morgue and Rebecca’s apartment, you’re likely to come across several hidden items in The Mortuary Assistant. The majority of which will either be used to assist you with your daily mortician-related tasks or help you banish the evil entities that be. Although, two items that can be rather tricky to figure out are the matches and ashes.

Upon first setting foot in River Fields Mortuary, you soon realize that the place has a dark undertone with peculiar happenings. Whether it be spooky creaks in the night at Rebecca’s apartment or strange noises during your shift at the morgue. It becomes evident rather quickly that there’s a demon afoot.

Early on you even discover that some of the bodies in The Mortuary Assistant are actually possessed by this demon. Generally, it’s pretty easy to tell which body it is because they will have certain giveaways like new markings or subtle facial movements. However, the best way to know for sure which body is possessed is by using the matches and ashes.

If you’ve walked around the mortuary, then you’ve likely come across a box of matches and bags for collecting ashes. The latter of which can be found in the retort. Well, essentially using these objects on one of the three bodies will help you narrow down which body is correct.

Simply collect the ash using the bags and place them on one of the bodies you think could be possessed. Then use the matches the light it, at which point a sigil will appear. Although, it’s important to note that the sigil has to match the house that the demon belongs to. Otherwise, you will soon discover that it’s actually another body that’s possessed.
