Some will be needed for mortician-related tasks, like trocars and embalming pumps or matches and bags for collecting ashes. However, other items will be used to complete some of the objectives and unlock every ending in the game. One of them being the lettering strips.

Lettering strips are used to identify sigils found around the mortuary. Which are basically symbols you will use to identify which demon is currently inhabiting one of the bodies you’re working on. So, they’re certainly one of the more important tools to know how to use in the game.
To take them out, you will need to use your sub-menu or their respective hot key and then just walk around the facility. Once it starts to smolder or burn, this is a sign that you’re getting close to a sigil. Continue walking around until the parchment completely burns out, at which point the sigil will be revealed to you.
