Fire Emblem Engage is finally upon us for some lucky amounts of us who pre-ordered the title, but for many we are still waiting for the 20th of this month to hit. Upon its release, players can look forward to seeing a new tale from the ever-expanding universe of the Fire Emblem franchise to unfold. What with plenty new characters to either meet or welcome back into the IP once more with returning faces, bonding with said characters is going to be even more intriguing than past entries has been for this reason alone. Here is what you need to know.
How to Unlock Support Conversations in Fire Emblem Engage
If you happen to have played certain prior titles in the franchise, then you are in luck. You will not be needing to relearn or get to gripes with anything new when it comes to this relationship building meter of sorts. These are namely Shadow Dragon, New Mystery of the Emblem, Awakening, Fates, Three Houses, Three Hopes and Heroes.
How to increase said bonds that results in support conversations can be done in two ways when on the battlefield. Firstly, ensure that units are standing alongside one another. This adjacency positioning will allow for whenever a player unit responds to an attack or is manually prompted to during the attack phase, any action will trigger a reaction from the adjacent companion. Additionally, whenever a character heals or is healed by a fellow comrade, this will also increase their bond level no matter the distance this is done from.
Within the free-roam section of Somniel – similar to that of the Monastery in Three Houses – and seems to work in the same way for how and when the player character can increase their support with or between characters. Namely, these are by talking to them within each chapter, returning lost items to the correct owner and dining at Café Terrace.
As of now, many expected features of this cannot be confirmed during this time such as how and if pairing up Adjutants may affect it or if giving gifts in involved during free time. The benefits of why exactly players should increase bonds is also up in the air when romance has not been confirmed as of yet. Instead, they will at least provide backstory and stat bonuses to the affected characters. We will update this piece once elements have been confirmed upon its release.
