How to Unlock Story Mode in Pixel Car Racer

Stories are so overrated. Right?

Pixel style games are a great hobby for me. They have the best balance of nostalgia and great performance (at least for the most time). Now, I’m not much of a racing gamer, but I do enjoy a race or two from time to time. Combine some pixel art style experience and a racing game, and you have the best combination for my casual gaming needs. Now, add a story mode to any game, and you will have my interest immediately. Yep, I’m a sucker for a good story. Now, the thing is, does Pixel Car Racer feature this mode? How to unlock Story Mode in Pixel Car Racer? We will talk about everything about this mode, now. Don’t go away.

How to Unlock Story Mode

When you pick the Race mode in Pixel Car Racer, you will have three options, or modes, to pick from. Drag, Street and Story. Drag mode is a simple race where you will be in a professional or championship setting competing against the computer to see which one of you is the fastest one. Street mode, just like you imagined, is a similar race like on the Drag mode, but in the street. Duh. The difference is that you will have to dodge cars while racing, because you are in the street. Street.

Anyway, finally, we have the sought-after Story mode. It features a lock icon on top of it. That usually means that it is currently inaccessible, and perhaps there is something you can do in-game to unlock it. Unfortunately, that is not the case. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Pixel Car Racer has been completely abandoned by the developers for, at least, 3 years. Story mode was a promise made by the developers, saying that it will come in a future update. Well, that update never came.

This is just a testament that, while some games are great in early access stages and usually bring a lot of interest towards them, the major part of early access games or like we called them in the past, incomplete games, usually are forgotten in oblivion. That is the case of Pixel Car Racer, and so it is for a countless amount of games. Maybe someday we will get the Pixel Car Racer story mode, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

Feel free to enjoy all the other modes if you want to. It is a fun game if you take it for what it is, but I could understand the frustration of not being a supported game or have any expectations for the future. Sounds very familiar to me, but anyway, have fun if you can!
