I’m still a relatively new fan of the Ultra series, and even within the few shows I’ve watched, there are a lot of different kaiju. This series has been running since the 60s after all, so they’ve built up quite a stable of beasties to draw on. There are over 200 to meet in Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher, so let’s get right to it! Here’s how to unlock new Kaiju in Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher.
How to Unlock New Kaiju in Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher
Just like in the mainline Monster Rancher games, Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher offers a variety of different ways to unlock new kaiju to care for, or “regenerate” to use the in-game parlance. Some of these methods do require external materials, but there is always a way you can regenerate a new kaiju for your ranch.

There are four primary ways to regenerate new Kaiju in Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher:
- NFCs
- Keyword Lookup
- Ultra Codes
- Supplied Kaiju
NFCs
NFCs, also known as Memory Boards, are little chip things that can interact with various electronics. You probably own a few without knowing it; they can be found in things like tap membership cards or certain toys. If you have any kind of NFC, just tap it against your Joy Con the same way you’d use an Amiibo, and you get a kaiju! Though, paradoxically, Amiibo don’t work for this.
Keyword Lookup
Don’t have any NFCs handy? No problem! You can regenerate a kaiju using the Keywork lookup function. The game will prompt you for two keywords, and depending on what you enter, you’ll get a different kaiju. You can enter anything you can think of, and it’ll yield something different! The only catch is that regenerating monsters in this way costs some gold.
Ultra Codes
For my fellow tokusatsu toy collectors out there, this one’s for you! If you happen to own any Ultra Series-branded products, such as Ultra Dimension Cards, you can enter the UMF code found on the bottom of the card to summon its corresponding kaiju! Obviously, this only works with kaiju cards. You can’t summon Ultraman, cool as that would be.
Supplied Kaiju
If you can’t be bothered with the entire regeneration process, the owner of the summoning Altar, Santo, will provide you with one free kaiju. He’ll offer this service again after some time has passed, with the kaiju he provides you changing based on the time of year. This is also where you can redeem any kaiju you’ve obtained through DLC or promotions.
Combining
Combining is a special means of kaiju regeneration, separate from the other methods. When you have at least two Kaiju that have reached the peak of their capabilities, you can opt to Combine them into a single hybrid kaiju. The combined kaiju will receive stats and abilities based on its source kaiju.
However you do it, after you’ve successfully regenerated a kaiju for the first time, you can summon them back through the Field Guide for a nominal fee. This ensures you can always get your favorite kaiju back, even if you combine them.
Try lots of different types of regeneration to bring about all kinds of kaiju! You never know, you might just meet your favorite monster!
