How to Turn off the Opening Cinematic in Conan Exiles
Solution 1: Modify Your .ini File
There are two potential ways to turn off the opening cinematic in Conan Exiles. The first one involves a simple edit to a text file.
Navigate to wherever you have Conan Exiles installed. Open the ConanSandbox folder, and then the Config folder. In the Config folder, open DefaultGame.ini with a text editor.
Inside this text file, run a search for “[/script/movieplayer.movieplayersettings]”. Under this section of code, you’ll see a list of startup movies with plus signs next to them. Replace these plus signs with minus signs.
By the end of this process, your file should look like this:
[/script/movieplayer.movieplayersettings]
-StartupMovies=StartupUE4
-StartupMovies=StartupNvidia
-StartupMovies=CinematicIntroV2
All of the cinematics with “-” next to them should no longer play when you launch the game. You will have a black screen for a couple of seconds while the game loads, but this duration will be significantly shorter than the actual cinematics were.
Solution 2: Delete or Rename Your Conan Movie Files
Solution 1 is the ideal way to disable the opening cinematic in Conan Exiles. It’s a small text change that is easily reversible. However, if that doesn’t work for you, or you would prefer a different way to disable the cinematic, there is another solution you can explore.
Navigate over to the same Conan Exiles folder from before, except this time you’re opening the Content folder from the ConanSandbox folder. Inside this folder, you’ll see a file names Movies. Deleting or changing that data will disable the opening cinematic in Conan Exiles, but it means that getting it back will require some extra work.
